One of the largest churches in Las Vegas is the next church Professor Scholte will be studying in his research of the Mega Church Phenomenon. Central Church, pastored by Jud Wilhite, is an 18,000 member church centered in Las Vegas. There are four campuses in Las Vegas, two extensions in Nevada, two in Florida, and one international congregation in Australia.

Professor Scholte Set to Lead Men’s Study

Rancho Bernardo Community Presbyterian Church in Rancho Bernardo, California has invited Professor Scholte to teach a four week course on World Religions. Beginning Thursday mornings from 6:00 a.m. – 7:30 a.m., starting on October 27, Professor Scholte will be teaching a four-week comparative religion study. Each week will focus on one core teaching of the following religions: Hinduism, Buddhism, Tao/Confucianism, and Islam as compared to the teachings of Christianity.

Professor Scholte Meets with Dr. David Jeremiah

Professor Scholte met with Dr. David Jeremiah, best selling author and Teaching Pastor of Shadow Mountain Community Church and the Turning Point television and radio ministry. Professor Scholte was discussing with Dr. Jeremiah the phenomenon known as the mega-church.

Mega-church's are those churches that have on average over 5000 members. Shadow Mountain has 8000 members and is located in El Cajon, California. Professor Scholte is conducting a study on mega-churches across the country to learn more about these types of ministries.
